HEY THAT WAS MY SECOND FAVORITE MOVIE... WHEN I WAS 15

See, it's just becoming steadily more obvious that my cinematic tastes are far more evolved than the rest o' youse. That's really the only conclusion to come to. :P But it might actually not be accurate to call DD my favorite film anymore as I haven't watched it very long (kinda blew it out with watching it fifty times for a research paper awhile back), but it's certainly still top 10. The Wall still holds the coveted favorite movie slot, just might not be shared with DD no mo.

I watched this for the first time last night. SO. GOOD. Has to be easily one of my favorite horror films ever. How in hell I had never seen it before is beyond me...

Damn, I'm late with my two cents, ha!!!

As Falk said, those of us who have been a part of the Hevydevy online community for a long time can still feel a little "outside" of it. I'm gonna prove Paul's point here and talk about myself  :

I was one of the first few people to sign up to the version one of the HDR forum, as forum admin, and had accumulated a good 2 or 3,000 posts there before it died and we started over. And I was on the HDR email list for years before that, which was also a great deal of fun. But in spite of all the time I've dedicated to it I can occasionally feel a little distant from it. And I've also seen pretty memorable people come and go. People like Ken and Ash and Carl from the email list. And Ro, who I keep in touch with on facebook (and who is a kick-arse designer and illustrator by the way... his Dev caricature for the last-second Terria tour t-shirt is fucking awesome). Plus a bunch of others. And the fucking weird thing is, when super-well known regulars disappear NO ONE SAYS ANYTHING!!! That boggles my mind. It's hilarious.

I can tell you that, as Paul said, how involved and recognised you feel is almost in direct correlation to how much of yourself you're willing to put into this forum. The more you're willing to share, the more you get back. For example, I've always used random pics like Mr Dinklage here for my avatar. For a while everyone here would have thought of me as Hitler eating a watermelon. A photo is SO much more recognisable. And it's not about time or volume of posts - look at Bookwyrm or Stubear or Slatewoman. Haven't been here for years and years but have shared stuff about themselves and have recognisable avatars... so I remember them!

And I agree that just because you don't get a response to something you feel is important, doesn't mean no one cares. For example, Paul's story about not being told about a family reunion was bloody heart wrenching. But lazy-arsed Juz didn't bother saying anything!

So yeah, as an old-timer I acknowledge and genuinely thank you for your contribution to the best damn forum there ever was. Now get me a coffee, n00b!!!

Excellently put. I read some of these stories people share, and it tugs at me and pains me what they're going through, but then I think, what can I honestly say to contribute or help them? So rather then respond and have it be something that isn't near adequate, I just send good vibes their way-- if that makes sense. I feel like everyone reads and feels for you, even if they don't respond. I feel that sense when I share deep things on the forum and don't get a response. But perhaps I'm in denial :D

Good thing I always share my trivial issues rather than my not-so-trivial ones. :D
I find them more entertaining.

Oh, regarding avatars.... I stick to pink ones of ugly faces. Having a visual trademark helps for visual brains (such as myself).
When people change their avatars I often have no idea who they are anymore.

Oh, yay. I opened a letter when I got home, and guess what? I have to pay a bill. Big bill. 20.270 kr (3483 dollars ca), which is A LOT. Oh well, I guess I don't need any food anyways.

Edit: And oh, there was this thing in the letter that I didn't quite understand, so I called a friend, and he said "ouch, that means that they're coming to take your stuff, instead of the money"

Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckshitfuckfuck.

See, it's a condition of my advanced evolution from the rest of humanity, I've spent majority of my life being so much more evolved that sometimes it takes me awhile to get to things that mere mortals see earlier on because I'm too busy taking in these more advanced things. Obviously.

Now stop asking questions as I'm running out of bullshit to say to back me up on this :D
