I'm struggling to comprehend the concept of having only seen it once. One of those I always end up watching when it's on TV :)

Haven't watched a movie in a while, on a breaking bas marathon to get caught up with the new series

watched a Norwegian movie called 'Headhunters' and it was really, really good. I was actually surprised just how great it was. It's about an art thief getting into all sorts of trouble. Really exciting stuff. And Jamie Lannister himself, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, plays one hell of a villain.

Elysium.
Great premise and visuals, good acting from the whole cast; both Matt Damon and Jodie Foster played their roles with conviction (though I'm not sure what accent she was meant to be portraying, South African I think), and it was nice to see Sharlto Copley (the hero from District 9) play a leering sociopath.
With that said, I did find the direction became uneven towards the last half hour or so. The technological aspects of the space station are also left largely unexplained, which bugged me when certain scenes arose.
Still, if you like dystopian future sci-fi, this should likely do the trick.

Drive

It was OK. Well made and everything, but jut not that captivating, I didn't feel enough for the connection between the characters to care enough. And there was that one horrific scene..

Spoiler: show
Where the bashed the crap out of that beautiful Mustang! ...the head stomping, wrist slashing and head blasted apart by shotgun weren't too pretty either ;)

He does consider it a paragon of film-making, after all.

Last one I saw was Killer Joe.
Dark, brutal and mean, but funny, and I gotta give credit to Matthew McConaughey, as he sure knows how to play a vile bastard that you love to watch. Recommended.

Saw a movie called "The Man From Earth" the other night, and feel the need to spread the word.
The film is about a seemingly immortal man who has lived since the dawn of genetically modern humans. He moves and changes identity every 10 years to avoid people noticing that he doesn't age. In the movie, he is just about to leave another life behind, but during a goodbye-party with a set of teacher colleagues he decides to reveal his secret.
The whole thing is told entirely through dialogue, and I think the film could easily be dismissed as pretentious/artsy or some such. I thought it was incredibly paced and the subject matter is so engaging that my eyes were glued to the screen. An exceptional experience, really.

I wanted to get my hands on this one for quite a while. Might have to try and get the French Blu-ray.

I really like the premise, sounds like an interesting one. Will keep an eye out for it.

Yes, the concept itself and the cool ideas are the film's greatest strength. The way it's realized (dialogue only, and almost entirely in real-time) makes it feel like one of those deep, exciting discussions you might end up having with good friends from time to time. That was pretty cool to me. Still, I was left wondering what a big budget-version (with more "show" and less "tell") of it would have been like. Pretty epic, I'd wager! I think it's becoming a bit of a cult hit, so, knowing Hollywood, they'll probably make a big remake/reboot of it one day (that the internet will hate with venomous passion).

Loved it too, and it's a great argument against people who claim that Jim is a one-trick-pony! He was great in it!

Watched 2/3 of the "Three Flavours Cornetto"-trilogy by Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg, specifically "Shaun Of The Dead" and "Hot Fuzz" and enjoyed them immensely. They weren't as laugh-out-loud funny as I expected, but instead surprisingly satisfying in terms of plot and emotional punch (especially "Shaun" with the later). I thought Simon was fucking intense in the more serious scenes (once again, especially in "Shaun") and, as great as he is with comedy, I'd like to see him in a drama. The guy's an excellent crier!

Good call... Pegg does that everyman character so well in SOTD, but that often gets overlooked.

very true. A friend of mine really dislikes JC so I'm gonna lend him this movie and see what he thinks then, heh.

I also watched a Danish movie called 'The Hunt/Jagten' with Mads Mikkelsen and it was excellent. It's about about a guy being falsely accused of mollesting a child. Great, great movie. Scandinavia really has a lot of great movies to offer these days. I just hope Hollywood won't remake 'em all. Next on my Scandinavian to-do-list is 'King of Devil's island'. And then 'A Hijacking', whenever I can get my hands on it.
