watched the gameplay footage for Resident Evil 6 and Dead Space 3. Yeah....just as expected, basically. I mean, they look good but it seems like developers have officially given up on survival horror now.

Ubi's conference was definitely the best so far. I'm no Rayman fan, but Rayman for Wii U looks like it could be a lot of fun. Watch Dogs is very interesting and received a lengthy applause.
AC3 was okay, but I am very disappointed to see the game use the AC2 animations AGAIN.

I doubt any developer will create a new engine for the current console generation anymore. So I doubt we'll see anything

I must admit, I am very impressed.

This. Very curious what that might become.

Oh, hey, look, very disappointing Star Wars 1313 gameplay. Doesn't even look like Star Wars except for a few things here and there. Oh well.

oh I'm not saying that games can't look any better anymore untill the next gen consoles arrive. I'm just saying no developer will build a new engine for the current gen consoles anymore. I mean, of course current gen games will look great for another while but we won't get blown away the same way we were blown away when we first saw Uncharted or Metal Gear Solid 4. But graphics aren't the most important thing in the world anyways.

I'd like to believe Nintendo (and Rare.. I can dream.) has something up their sleeves in regards to this. A new Zelda (hell, I'd take a new IP) with actual post-xbox360 and post-PS3 level graphics. I'd expect the WiiU to be at least twice as powerful as our current generation of consoles, but nowhere near the level of current-gen graphics cards.

well, according to a lot of developers it's actually not as good as the 360 and PS3. Guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm kind of disappointed with what Nintendo has to offer for its WiiU at the moment. Seems to be the same old same old. I mean, I bet a new 2D Super Mario Bros. game is fun but it looks exactly like the last one for the Wii. I would have prefered to see something like a new Mario Galaxy game that really shows the strengths of the WiiU.

Absolutely this. Pretty typical of Nintendo to prioritise that way. I think it's a shame that there is so much potential for the controller tablet, but its uses are being limited by what I see as time constraints, really. I'd have liked to see it get a few more uses, a small built-in memory so it could store a few apps would be nice. And its own browser, as opposed to being a sidekick to the one on the console itself. It has a lot of potential to be used around the home separate from the console (if it had a browser I'd dock it in my kitchen and google recipes), but I don't see it getting the ties cut, it seems very dependent on the console unit. That being said, if it were able to be used as such an independent unit, the 3DS would probably suffer.

So, the Wii U game price on sites like GameStop and Amazon is $99. It may or may not be a placeholder, but still, JESUS CHRIST.

So, this past weekend I picked up SoulCalibur V, SSX (the 2012 one), Dragon Age II, and MLB: The Show 11 on sale. Most of these games I would never have passed a second glance at (and until that day I hadn't, SCV withstanding), but for the price they were, it was a "Hey, why not?" moment.

I'm not much of a sports game person, but SSX is actually pretty fun. It's hard as balls for a newcomer to snowboarding games like myself (never played any of the originals), but still, it's quite fun and suitably over-the-top. Also, the fact that you can change the soundtrack with music on the HDD (on the PS3 version at least, not sure about 360) is a MAJOR plus, as listening to the same crappy dubstep tracks forever would drive me insane. It's actually the one I've been playing the most of the four.

SoulCalibur V is still very much a SoulCalibur game. Nothing crazy-radical about it has been changed or improved, but it does have the standard sequel-stuff: Better graphics, what I can only hope is an improved online system, new characters (and some old characters being renamed, like Lizardman is now Aeon) and the new story mode is a nice touch, although I do miss the SC3 story layout. The story is pretty basic, some small cutscenes wrapped around fights, pretty much the same that every fighter does with their story modes. I'd say it's decent if you like the series, which I do, but it still doesn't top SC3 for my favourite Soul game.

Haven't gotten around to Dragon Age II or MLB yet (and I probably never will get to MLB), but I intend to take DA2 for what it is and go into the game with a fresh mind, without any of this "OH BUT THE ENDING SUCKS, IT'S TOO LINEAR" fanboy self-entitled bullshit that the game got in response.
