Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

First, a touch of background: On Monday, I think, my computer decided to die in a very serious way. It was very nearly FUBAR, to the point that I just revived it about a half hour ago. The timing was absolutely perfect, since I needed it for school projects :p.

This lack of computer led to a horrendous amount of "free" time, so I went to see Hot Fuzz on Tuesday. I showed up at 7:55 for the 8:05 showing, and I was the only person in the theater. It was really quite awkward. Thankfully, two other people arrived jsut before it started.

In an effort to not give anything away, I will say that it was worth the money, and I don't recall any very British jokes that I was left out on due to my American-ness. Not the funniest movie I've seen, but still quite good.

Y'know.. I think it might have been one of the funniest films I've ever seen. But it just tied in perfectly with all the different aspects of my sense of humour, I suppose.

Spiderman 3, don't waste your money on it I reckons. It's cheese. Cheese for the kids. And at one point, he's posing in front of the American flag in it. It just made me want to.. kind of.. punch people. I should make a superhero in a green and white costume. I could call him.. like.. Grass Man or something.

'Holy inflatable arms, grass man. This field looks like it's been growing without being cut for six weeks!!!!!!'
'Woah. Calm down, Turf Boy. It's actually a marsh. The citezens of Ballybeg can rest at ease, for their fields can always depend on the protection of.. GRASS MAN!'

28 Weeks Later

Saw it the other day, and it was okay, nothing great, but a decent zombie flick.

Yeh totally agree, it had soo much potential when it began, I enjoyed it but the ending sucked.

I bought a ticket for express train through your mind. Wasn't expensive, and the conductor seems nice. Kinda of a twisty, turny sort of trip, but the scenery's nice. In other words, kiddo...I like the way you think.

I saw Old Boy yesterday, a Korean movie.
Liked it very much; it's an original story with some great actors. I don't want to spoil anything, but this movie hits some taboo's many Americans will frown on. I just didn't understand the ending, but I'm not that smart I guess :D

7/10

Hm... I never thought of the ending to be that hard to "get". Anyway, I definitely enjoyed this movie. The visual aspect, the music, the acting (though I can't comment on the original version, my Korean isn't that good, ya know)... Impressive.

Since you mentioned the taboos... I read somewhere that there were plans for a US-remake of it. Is this story really suited for Hollywoodization? Maybe the film works because it doesn't obey rules and doesn't stay within certain limits a Hollywood-production would likely have. Felt really bizarre when I heard about it.

Yeh thats a good point. I very much doubt it will be as brutal as the korean version. Why are they even making a remake the original was perfect! bloody hollywood!

The Departed - 3/5

It's all an interesting parallel story, but a little long-winded around halfway. Maybe trim half an hour of the 2,5 hour movie to really make it fly. The ending was a little bit silly for such a serious-in-a-way movie.

Crank - 2/5

Yeah, straight to the point but at times it seems to lose its pace - which is definitely not good for a movie that's meant to be pure adrenaline from the beginning to the end. Amy Smart was probably meant to be funny as the dumb blonde bimbo who doesn't understand anything, but all she succeeded was making me want to slap her character  The ending was fun, though.

Well now I'm really going to have to watch this, just to see what taboos I might have a problem with. :P Just as long as there isn't any animal abuse going on...I don't handle that well at all.

Oh...nevermind. I just read something about an octopus in a review. Yes, I'm that sensitive.

Ah, I recognise this problem. I'm a vegetarian and cannot handle any animal cruelty. So, I looked away for the scene you're talking about.
Still, a very good movie.
