just read that Skyrim has massive texture problems when you install it onto your 360 harddrive. Ugh. I hope they fix that before the Game of the Year edition gets released. I know it's a huge game and all that but this is a problem that should just be incredibly obvious when you test the game. Don't know what's up with Bethesda sometimes...

Yeah, I must admit to being more than a bit apprehensive about it.
Being a new game engine - hopefully it'll be free of some of the more infuriating glitches the gamebryo had, that have plagued both Elder Scrolls and Fallout pedigrees.
Given Bethesda's track record, this could be either the greatest thing ever or the most massive disappointment.

Ah, that is a keen eye you have my friend. :)
I've got a blu-ray burner in my PC - connected up to my 7.1 home theatre.

That's the spirit!
Skyrim looks absolutely fucking staggering. The music is amazing.
I've found that the vocal sounds could be a lot more prominent...they get lost in amongst all of the other things that are going on. The User Interface is somewhat disappointing (I'm interested to hear how it goes for you guys playing on console)...if you remap the "ready/sheathe weapon" key (which is default "R" on PC) then the key for crafting/smithing etc. (which is also "R" and can't be remapped) becomes completely unresponsive. :|
Also, selecting dialogue options from the tree is a bit clunky. I've highlighted what was a yet-to-be-used conversation option, only to apparently select one that had already been exhausted.

Hopefully there'll be a patch for this.
Kiled my first dragon last night. Was THAT ever a fight! :boxe:
The game froze once, before the end of the Tutorial  so I got the shotgun out...but apart from crashing on exit to desktop a couple of times - it has behaved itself thus far.

Thanks mate. It'll look good alongside my Mars globe (if that ever arrives). :)

^Yep, agreed, Skyrim is a beast :D .

Having purchased it for PC, I do see where your coming from with the whole user interface problem. It is a bit annoying to use, as well as assigning and choosing items in the favourites list too. Just wish there was a quicker and easier way for that stuff. Which is probably why the console versions would come handy.

And in terms of any bugs and glitches during the game, I've so far found none myself. Except for one naughty one, in the first 5 minutes where I equipped a bow but it showed nothing but the player's hands lol. But overall, its real satisfying and using magic is so much more fun.

I've had my PS2 for years. Haven't really been interested in online play. But I'm thinking I must update to PS3 for Skyrim. :D Love Elder Scrolls. Any input? I really love my PS and don't see any reason to get a 360.

Damn it, I caved in and bought Skyrim this morning too!!!

I had all the platform options open to me and went for the ps3. Totally prefer pc for fps games but this is different as it's a slow burner of an rpg and the couch was far too appealing to pass up on, especially with my gaming hours about to be limited to a quick burst here and there if I am very lucky.

The Elder Scrolls games are just too good to pass up on, basically.

Have played a few hours today and it's been sensational so far. Going the high elf route, being a sucker for magic and all. Only glitch so far has been a random arrow sticking out of an npc's head whilst he was talking to me. I told myself he was just a badass who felt no pain.

I think I should stay away from Metacritic, I blame it on the über-high average critic rating and the über-high user rating that I eventually caved! Oh well, didn't have time to play it yesterday yet. Only had about an hour to play games so I gave Halo Anniversary a spin. It's basically exactly how you remember the first Halo game to be with updated visuals. BUT I must admit they are less impressive than I expected. I think I read that they used the same engine for this game that they used for Halo Reach. And to be honest...Halo 3 looks better than this game, heh. But it's still fun!

The only game I even remotely care about right now is Skyward Sword, and I don't even have a Wii!

Looks like I'll be borrowing one from the in-laws
