I don't think it's just Nintendo putting out games like that. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely nostalgic too but nostalgia is only nice as long as it doesn't keep you from enjoying other good things. I can enjoy the entire spectrum of music, movies and games.

I suppose that's fair. I have a very hard time playing 3D shooting games (first person or otherwise), and do not typically enjoy them.

One thing we can agree on.

Which is why I love the simplicity of racing games. Pick a car, pick a track, go.

A game which immediately springs to mind in the not-so-serious category is Flatout: Ultimate Carnage. The stunt arena part of it remains among the most ridiculous things (in a good way) I've come across in a game.

Is that the one I failed at when I was at yours? Can't remember the name of it for the life of me.

Nah, I think that was GRID.

Aaaaaaah yes, that's the one. Now I can remember to not buy it.

You have Fallout 3. That should be enough to tide you over until 2013 arrives.

That's the plan. Though I'll play Dragon Age Origins first to tide me over until Devember.

Every instinct is telling me it's a joke but it may actually be legit! I mean, pandas are cute and all but I wonder if they just jumped the shark. In any case the hardcore will stick with it. Too addictive!

Speaking of which, it's interesting timing as I cancelled my subscription about two hours ago. And seeing this makes me think I made the right call.

It'd have to be pretty legit joke.

We have someone who was there covering it.

I could not stop laughing about it, and thank god I was working from home.

I appreciate the irony of pandas being considered ridiculous within the context of a game about mages and gnomes and elven warriors and shit. But I don't care, it's still silly.

I wonder if Blizzard will ever have the balls to do WoW2. They'd have a full scale riot on their hands if they shut down WoW and made everyone level up from scratch. It would be pretty amusing!

The only games I've really played this year have been Persona 3 and 4 on the PS2. Japanese RPGs that play like someone threw a high-school dating sim, Pokémon Silver and a Jung textbook into a blender. Depending on your hobbies, they're either a lot better than they sound... or a lot worse.
