Missing him, but I got to tell him bye and wished him a pleasant trip to the other side.
Also gave him two coins for the ferryman!
Would be a shame to leave unprepaired.

That is simultaneously so very sad and so very sweet. The definition of bittersweet. Kind of going through a similar thing right now, so my heart goes out to you and yours.

Really sorry to hear that, Sari. At least you got to say goodbye before he sailed away. Hope ye're all doing alright.

And suddenly last night mom and dad came over, took my good new washing machine and
replaced it with this old, tiny and smelly one.
My machine had 29 minute program, the "fastest" in this "new" one lasts "only 1,5 hours.
Yey for doing laundry after work..
Or before :D
Waking up around 6 am to turn the machine on, and of course it's so loud that you can't sleep while it's washing.
But the thing is, my own machine was only 4 cm too wide for the gap that was built for washing machine, and
this "new" one fits it perfectly.
Too bad everything else about it is craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap.

((((bearhugs))) for your loss. Pleasant journey or no, the leaving's the hardest. And, to the washing machine: Sometimes, the things that we like best don't fit so neatly into our lives.

Oh! I am so sorry for your loss. How wonderful you were able to wish him safe journeys.

huge thanks to all, the times have not certainly been easy for me.
funeral is 1,5 weeks away, so there is time to.. I don't know for what.
To prepare?
I suppose so.

And the washing machine incident is driving me crazy, I need to wash the damn thing before I can wash my own clothes in it.. :D
I am missing the old one more and more!

Sorry too, Sari. It's a long time since my grandads died but I miss them still.

As for the washing machine... I'd have sawn a chunk out of the cabinets to make the thing fit!! Nothing worse than a crappy washing machine. :P

And for my own un-awesomes today: a) coughing so hard that I retch b) cat having a miscarriage.

Hope you feel better soon Keeks. Try some hardcore onion tea - I know it is vile but it does work. And rub some goose fat on your chest before bed. I'd offer to do this for you but I suspect you would knock my head off, even in you lurgified state.

Had some unawesome news of my own today, but not able to share right now. Not trying to be cryptic. Just not facing it let alone sharing right now.

I kinda feel weird posting this, but somehow it does manage to affect me negatively.

I was watching a hockey game last night, and there was a vicious hit on a player, he was basically rammed at full speed head first in a metal post. He lay motionless on the ice for long minutes, and was not moving. I felt so bad for him, he is a young man just making his start in the nhl, and there was no reason for the hit at that point in the game. There was also prior history between the 2 players. Prognostics is a concussion and possible neck injury, I thought he might be dead while he was on the ice.
There are photos and videos around, but I have a hard time looking at them, they tie a knot in my stomach.

It is weird that it affects me so, but I thought it was an horrible thing to see another human being go through.

It was the "CLING" that got me as his head hit it... Horrid. Chara is a dirty prick though. The puck was very far gone so you just cannot do what he did at all. I hope he gets a lengthy ban cos there's no place for that sort of shit in any sport.

Although the worst thing I've ever seen in a hockey game is still Richard Zednik getting caught in the throat by Olli Jokinen's skate back in 2008. I'd seen the Clint Malarchuk video from '89 on YouTube and never thought I'd see something like it live but when that happened to Zednik I thought he was a goner. Couldn't sleep for ages that night cos I was just like "Shit. He could be dead now..." Scary stuff.

Not weird at all that it affects you - (connections, man) - if more people had such empathy the world wouldn't be such a violent place.

Chara did not even get a suspension or any kind of punishment. I truly believe he could have killed or paralyzed Max Pacioretty.
I am truly disgusted by the nhl right now, they make a fanfare trying to prove they want to protect players, and eliminate head hits, but when someone rams and slams someone's head on a metal post, thats fine and dandy?
Being responsible for fracturing vertebreas and concussing someone bears no repurcussions?

Hell someone was suspended for 2 games for an obscene gestures just this season.... you'd think Chara would at least get something.
