Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

Yea thats what I thought too, but for now it's not worthwhile trying to hold my media files on SSD Hard Drives.
I'm hunting a new one external hard drive, and it feels like a crapshoot, as the market seems to be filled with defective ones, all the reviews i read of so many losing their data.

My Hard Drive broke about a year ago. Had very similar symptoms to yours actually... It began to spin up, made some weird clicks for a few seconds, then shut down, and repeated that process over and over, with nothing showing up on my computer.

I didn't lose anything majorly important, but there was a bunch of stuff that had some sentiment - Photo's and music that I'd made that is now lost forever.

I need a new one, but I'm not sure which one to get. I'd be scared of keeping my stuff on it too.

I just need to look around and find one with good reliability reviews.

As a guy who produces things and a guy who works for 3 tech magazine my advice to you is that you back up everything that matters to multiple sources, anything ESSENTIAL, should go on your hard drive, an external, and the cloud if you can.

And externals are going to be the most likely to crap out on you.

Yea i actually back my 2 computers on the external, and I have some hard drives that are stored and keep precious data safe.
It's just kinda annoying to go through all those hoops, you'd think we'd have a better technology right now for computer memory.

My internal HD died, or was having a near death experience, at the weekend. I cloned it onto an external HD so hopefully nothing is lost. Currently running laptop off the aforementioned clone. I'll have to dismember the laptop tomorrow and remove the now erased internal drive. It's under warranty still so hopefully I won't have to wait too many days for a replacement.

Today was shite. General miserable day topped off with getting my worst ever grade in my three years in college, which now means that to salvage an overall First Honours or even a high Second Class Honours I have to absolutely nail the accompanying 8000 word research project, which is gonna be really difficult. My supervisor sounding like a disappointed Dad and going "I expected so much more" made things even worse.. Plus adding insult to injury when I told him that I had actually made out two presentations and just decided on the day which to do, to which he responded that the one I chose to leave behind would've definitely massively improved my grade. It's only a small thing and I can recover but it's just been the story of my year this year. I've aced everything for two and a half years and now that I'm in my last half year where most of my degree grade is gonna be decided I'm starting to fuck things up. Burned out...

[/tl;dr rant]

You just need a better sense of humour.

Ironically, if that's meant to be a joke, I just do not get it.
