I got it 2 weeks ago (Hooray for WiiKey), its even better than Mario 64 which was probably the last good 3D Mario game.

I rather liked Mario Sunshine...I'm not sure why people are/were so down on it.

Mass Effect has been in Australia for the past 3 days, a week before the actual release date and before any other country. I was going to get it on the release date, which was the 16th but have been busy with work...hoping to get it on Wednesday.

Can't wait, looks amazing.

Think Oblivion, but out in space and 100x better.

I picked up my copy of Mass Effect this afternoon.

OMG!!! Im speechless, best RPG...ever!! Well, not as good as the Fallout series but still amazing. The conversation system is amazing, the graphics are breathtaking and the exploration is never ending. I look forward to playing many hours of this on my days off. :D

I looked at the options and there will be downloadable content in the near future, can't wait to see what it is.

Ah, so here's the thread. Time to revive it a bit.

Just finished S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl, and liked it very, very much. It's bit rough on edges, have some little bugs (but nothing that couldn't be fixed by a quickload), and some quest sequences are not that obvious, but overall it's still great game with exceptional atmosphere and lots and lots of exploration.

Living in my part of the world could have some impact on my impressions, as I vaguely remember drinking funny anti-radiation drink they gave us kids after Chernobyl power plant went tits up. Also as a members of Warsaw Pact our countries (Ukraine and Poland that is) shared similiar level of communist uglyness. So wandering through deserted Zone has bit of surreal feeling, familiar, realistic looking places with added eerieness. Great stuff, Zone lives, time of day and weather changes, badder animals hunt wussier ones (same with people), things happen around and you're walking through it all, getting things done, trading (there's like bazillion types of suits, guns and ammo, not mention my favourite "tourist's delight" canned meat), listening to people's stories, searching and trying to solve what the fuck is in Chernobyl sarcophagus.

Last, unnecessary fact: my copy has original Russian dialogs with Polish oversound - proper way to experience it, can't imagine this game with James Bondish Rusglish :)

EDIT: oh yeah, it would be not fair to not mention Strugacki's book, which inspired this game. Its title is "Roadside picnic". Though it's rather introspective story, not much about running around with AK47. And not a hint of Chernobyl in it (book is from 1971), zone of freaky phenomenas is still in it, but created by aliens.

I'm guessing you're picking up S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 then? :) read about it on Steam today, looks promising.

Myself, I've been playing Titan Quest lately... as usual. Also there's been a fair bit of Bioshock (talk about atmosphere! Easily one of the best games last year), and today I actually had a few minutes in the company of my old friend Max Payne! Hell yeah for retro :D

Last game I bought was God of War 2. Was pretty good, wasn't all that different from the first though. Let's see how long it takes them to get 3 made.

Oh, and in case anyone hasn't already heard, we now have a release date for GTA IV, April 29.

How funny that this is the last post of the thread right now. I'm waaaay behind on video games (having very young children and a job will do that to you). I don't even own an XBOX 360 or PS3 yet, though I'm hoping to get a 360 in the next few months.

Over the holidays, though, I bought God of War 1 since I heard it was good and fired up the old PS2. Up to now I'd mostly been playing Guitar Hero but I got frustrated with the orange fret. Just too hard to make my 36 year old fingers learn new tricks. When you can't get past the first song on hard, it's kinda of a bummer.

So, I bought GoW and loved it! I played all the way through on Normal and decided to try it on God mod now. I got all the way up to Pandora's temple and saved the game. The next time I tried to load my game it would just hang on the "Loading" screen. Damn. Had to start over. I usually rotate my saves into different slots but this time I was only saving the God mode game on the one slot. Big mistake. Oh well. I'm back working my way through the Rooftops of Athens. Apart from a couple sections that are stupidly hard (Blades of Hades!!11!!!!11!!one and that little underwater section pissed me off) I've really enjoyed playing the game. I bought it for like $20 and also got Devil May Cry 2 for $10 so I might play that one next. I guess GoW2 is for PS2 also so I will get that as well.

I can't wait to play BioShock and Half-Life two when I get an XBOX. I've been tempted by the PS3 lately because it's backward compatible (I think) and because of the BluRay player, but XBOX360 has too many good games.
