The first book in that series (The Gunslinger) is INCREDIBLY boring. I read the first 50 pages or so and had to put it down for good. It wasn't holding my attention.

I hear it gets much better but you have to be willing to tough it out.

It gets better from the 2nd book. I've finally just read the 7th and last book in the series, now I feel like a part of me hs gone; I've followed Roland for years everytime it was translated to Danish...

Does anyone read Bukowski and Hemingway? They're great! Except for Bukowski's poems - Read him for his short stories, just like with Hemingway.
Just finished The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera.
Workin' my way through Arthur C. Clarke these days...

Ill get to reading Bukowski and Hemingway in due time. They're in my "to read" list. Right now I'm reading "Simulacra and Simulation" by Jean Baudrillard and "The Three Musketeers" by Alexandre Dumas.
