Castlevania Harmony of Despair is amazing. Old school 2D side scroller Castlevania with 6 player co-op and 5 different characters that are all very different? Yes please.

I was excited until I saw the time limits.

I like to take my time with these kinds of games, and they are my FAVORITE kind of game in the entire universe. The demo did NOT impress.

The levels are small enough that 30 minutes will definitely give you ample time to check everything. Plus, playing online shortens things even more. Luckily random item drops, a hard difficulty that gives even more items, and 5 different characters to work on gives the game some good replayability. Also have read that there will be at least 2 downloadable characters in the future and new levels. A little steep on the price for such a small game, but I'm definitely loving it.

Singularity is pretty cool. The graphics aren't as bad as I expected, the atmosphere is cool and the time manipulation is fun, even if it is quite restricted. There's a couple of odd things though. Sometimes when you switch to a different weapon and want to pick your old weapon up again, it's gone. For a big chunk of the part that I played today I didn't even find any different weapons, no idea if that was a bug or anything but I was stuck with a shotgun for a while and enemies didn't drop any weapons for me to pick up. Very odd. And sometimes it's a little hard to figure out how to specifically beat an enemy or how many more hits it will take to kill it off. I don't really like the medpack system. I would have prefered the usual FPS automatic healing. I just sometimes accidently take a medpack which is a waste. Then there's portions in the game where you have a shitload of ammo, the game just shits ammo all over you...then all of a sudden there's hardly any useful ammo for your particular weapon but a horde of enemies attacking you. So yeah, it ain't perfect by any means but I do dig it. It's like as if Bioshock, Wolfenstein and Half Life 2 had a 3some . Except that all 3 of these games are still each better than Singularity. Even Wolfenstein....but I guess that's because shooting up demonic Nazis kicks ass.

Unfortunately I don't really care about all of that extra crap even if 30 minutes is "ample time" that's not how I play Castlevania.

Biggest disappointment of the year for me, I'm afraid.

Lol I thought you had maddeningly high standards, but if this is the biggest disappointment of the year to you, maybe I was wrong.

It's a different kind of Castlevania, it's definitely not a traditional one in the sense that you go through a giant castle where enemies respawn when you leave a room. I like it, and a lot of people I've played with like it. The variety is interesting and the style is different.

Well that's why you have the weapon stations! Upgrade/swap/buy ammo! Also, I prefer the medpack system. In my opinion it adds a layer of difficulty to the game. Hell even Bioshock had it.

finished Singularity. The further you make it through the game, the better it gets. The balancing may be a bit off, considering that you do have ammo probs now and then in the beginning and are fully dependend on weapon stations (sometimes it takes a while to reach one) and the closer you reach the end the more overpowered you are. In the end you just blast everything away and nothing's a threat anymore (played it on normal difficulty, I assume that is different on hard difficulty). I was a little disappointed that there was no huge boss battle in the end but the way the game plays out in the end and the fact that there's 3 different endings makes up for that. I'll probably replay it soon but don't think I'll try the game on hard difficulty....just because it is nice to have one game that didn't frustrate the shit out of me, heh. Might also try the game's multiplayer mode, it sounds kinda fun! Alas Raven Software games usually have big online problems. Wolfenstein hardly worked for me online so I hope Singularity works better.

also, today some new Red Dead Redemption DLC was released. Not sure if I'll get it. It seems to be mainly focusing on online vs. matches and that part of the game isn't really all that great. I hope they'll release some more co-op DLC in the future. That actually is a lot of fun.

The online for Singularity was very interesting. I could see playing it a good bit, if more of my friends had it.

And I know what you mean about the boss fights, the first parts of the game had 2 crazy boss fights (the train? That was AWESOME!)

yup, that was. That's why I was hoping they'd try to top that boss fight in the end. Too bad they didn't even try.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has been officially announced. And this time it won't be just for PC. So Anthony and BrunoN...go ahead and jizz your pants!

speaking of announcements, I'm looking forward to hear what all will be announced at this year's Gamescom which will take place in Cologne next week. I'm hoping for Resistance 3! Maybe a Mass Effect 3 trailer? And I hope we'll get to see a bit more video footage of the new Silent Hill game.

in other news: Singularity's multiplayer modes are fun (both of them...yeah, there ain't more). That's if it works properly and some, let's call them, "chocolate backdoors" don't kick you out of the game for no reason other than you not interfering with their achievement boosting. Idiots. Happened to me several times today and I was reconnected to their game over and over again, yes just that one game, and was kicked out like 7 or 8 times. I was running around and gunning around like everyone else and was kicked out for 'idling'...yeah, right. And then I got bad rep from them so I can't join the game again...awesome. Aside from that and occasional connection and lag issues it is actually quite a lot of fun. When you make it into a game with decent players it's a blast. Yeah, it may not be well balanced but it's fun to play as one of those nasty creatures. Especially the ticks. I think I actually like it more than Left 4 Dead's versus mode.

 STALKER 2 makes me happy! Especially if it can be as polished as say, Metro 2033 (in terms of few bugs, no crashes, optimized frame rate) and maintain the things that made the other STALKER games great.

I downloaded Monday Night Combat yesterday and I have to say, it's a lot of fun. Relatively balanced classes along with some interesting modes of play make it worth 1200 Microsoft points.

It's like a third person version of Team Fortress meets a tower defense game.

I'm kinda interested in that one too. And Limbo. Limbo looks awesome.

As soon as I reached "multiplatform" part in announcement I've got only a semi.

Was out of town last weekend at a friend's place. He has a PS3 and a Nintendo DSi XL. Well the PS3, naturally, blew me away. Aside the shop displays I've only seen the console running a few times. But what really got me was how damn cool the Nintendo DSi was. I had never experienced anything like it before. Spend a whole night playing Zelda and a couple different Final Fantasys. That Sunday, immediately after returning home, I ordered one and it finally arrived Friday. Been having a blast since with a few games I picked up.

Went online the Finnish "ebay" and managed to win a few used games too. Damn it has been a great purchase so far. No buyer's remorse what-so-ever. :D

the Bioshock: infinite trailer looks awesome! I love the setting...I just hope I won't get sick. I'm scared of heights!

And I played and beat Singularity on Hard mode anyways. Figured I wouldn't be able to resist...
