Heehee, I was 17 in that pic I think. And just so you know, damn that day was coollllld. It was only about 5C, and I had to be in that tshirt! TWas freezing! :D xD Hence the Rudolph nose going on in that pic :P

And that sounds awesome Hairbearbunch. Near where I live, theres a huge group of Ravens that life to fly around together. It's quite fun to watch them gliding and playing around. :)

I KNOW that hand is fake.
It can't be real.

Their numbers dropped right off with Asian gangs poaching their eggs. Noticing them coming back more now. Have some Black 'white tails' in my neck of the woods. Sound a bit like Whale noises. Here's a Red tailed clip I found on youtube.

I see the mudlark won't fuck with it on the tv aerial, they are heaps territorial, even take on wedge tailed Eagles and Falcons.

Good to see a bit of bird love.

We're spoilt for choice where I live I guess, as we have a nature reserve behind our street. So we have galahs, sulphur crested cockatoos, eastern and southern rosellas, rainbow lorikeets and at least a couple of dozen other species easily viewable. Have seen a few superb blue wrens this year, and some silveryes too - so tiny that they're almost impossible to see in the undergrowth. I can see how people get into birdwatching - it'k kind of addictive trying to spot different species.

Funny you should mention ravens taking on eagles - there's a pair of wedge tails that patrol the valley we're in and we spotted them on the weekend. Wasn't hard to see them, as they were being "attacked" by magpies, currawongs and what looked like ravens. But it was like a 747 being attached by a squadron of mosquitos - not exactly a fair fight!

Highlight for me this year is that we have a magpie nest (no swooping thankfully) in our backyard, so I've got to the point of being able to handfeed the three magpies that hang around. Haven't got them to land on my hand, but I don't want them too trusting of humans - they know I'm a food source but they watch me pretty carefully! Trying not to feed them so much they're dependent on it - would much prefer to have them disappear than be dependent on me for food.

Unbelievably nerdy to be so into birds I'm sure, but what the hell.

it's pretty dire kinda like Dante's 7th circle of hell
