just finished the Alien campaign in AvP3 on nightmare difficulty. Geez...if that's the easiest of the 3 on nightmare difficulty then I don't want to know what the Marine campaign will be like  Basically each enemy is stronger, blocks your attacks much more and you can't take a lot of hits or shots before you die...but that's not all....if you die, you got to redo the entire mission again, no check points. Dang, it's like playing NES games again where you had to start all over when you died!

Just wanted to report that mega man 10 is glorious but not as glorious as 9.

Or rather, the "jokes" that were told in 9 by the game are no longer as prevalent and silly. (I.E. robots that grip you and throw you into spikes for instant death)

Still, as sad as this may sound to some of you, this is by far the funnest game I've played since Dragon Age, but I still haven't gotten to Mass Effect 2 yet (Don't own it, and wanted to finish a new mass effect game first, and well who knows how long that'll take).

I will point out, I so recognize the absurdity that I can't really handle 3D shooters when I'm going gaga over a 2D shooter.

The truth is my three favorite genres in video games are:

1) Turn Based Strategy RPGs (Shining Force and Final Fantasy Tactics are god-tier)

2) Adventure Platformers (Super Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night)

and last but certainly not least

3) Side-Scrolling Shooting Platformers up through the 32 bit era (Mega Man, Gunstar Heroes, Metal Slug, Contra)

EDIT: I guess the last two generations just aren't all that happy with gamers like me, because very few of these kinds of games are made today.

One could easily suggest that the open world genre kinda has taken over the Adventure Platformers, and I have high hopes for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, since while people are calling it a God of War clone, if it's an open world adventure game like Symphony of the Night but with God of War combat, I'll be a very happy camper.

Batman: Arkham Asylum definitely owes some influence to Super Metroid. This is a good thing. Batman kicked ass, but I'd just like a game where you're a little less confined to the shadows. Which obviously isn't the game's fault, I mean the license really calls for stealth.

I really don't do well at Mega Man games, I think the only MM game where I did ok is Mega Man 2 but I still love the games! And I'll certainly get MM 10 too.

Still waiting for Battlefield Bad Company 2 to finish downloading on Steam. It's been going for hours and is finally at 85%. My friend said its incredibly hard, almost impossible, to play online right now.

Same here. The first three Mega Man games were the only ones I ever really enjoyed. Then again, the only other one I had was 5, and I just was generally disinterested in games when I got it. I might check 10 out when I get some spare cash (read: a long time from now).

Speaking of 2D platformers, though--I'm kind of looking forward to the new Sonic, just because I liked the old ones so much. Also, I hear the new Metroid (I can't help but think that the title Other M is about as creative as "Solidus Snake") will be a bit like Super Paper Mario in that it's sometimes 2D, and sometimes 3D. Anyway, very much looking forward to that as well.

Other M should be awesome...as long as they don't take away the adventure elements, we'll have to wait and see what Team Ninja does to the franchise. But it does look like a 2D/3D version of Super Metroid and Super Metroid is one of my favorite games of all time.

Yeah, I have very mixed emotions about it. The only thing I've played that I know was by Team Ninja was the demo for Ninja Gaiden 2 and I thought the mechanics were awful. So, long story short, I might love and hate Other M.

However, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and a new Zelda, I am thrilled to death about. A lot of the time it sucks owning just a Wii, but when it pays, it pays heavily.

Still burning my way through AO2: 40th day. Hostage situations are a bit fail though.....might be 'cos i don't like the mock surrender mechanic.

It has come to my attention that after I've downloaded the God Of War III demo my PS3 is essentially gone bust in the memory department. There's bugger all left. Great timing. :?

Anyone able to give me a quick solution of what new memory... thing... I should buy to give me more space? I know fuck all about this and really am not bothered to spend the afternoon trawling through a googol of information on Google.

Oh wow, at first when I read your post I thought you got hit hard by that PS3 problem earlier in the week.

But yea, like Flood said you can replace it with a laptop harddrive!

Also, Battlefield Bad Company 2 looks and plays pretty amazingly on my computer. So far digging it way more than the first. Just about everything has been improved.

The Halo: Reach multiplayer trailer that was just posted on Gamespot also looks quite good. Like Halo is finally coming into this generation.

I don't online play anyway, so I didn't give a f00k about the Leap Year that was 1999 but never was. :P

I just went on a deleting spree of save games and install data on games I never use anymore or intend to sell so I've bumped it back to 15GB free now. That should hold me for a while anyway.

I'd rather not have to drop €60 to €100 or whatever for a new card till late summer if at all possible. Not to mention the fact that to back up the existing files, you need a FAT32 USB hard drive because that's all the PS3 can detect, and I'm quite frankly feelin' too damn lazy to be bothered until I get a few more games and am absolutely forced into the change.

Yeah, I knew 40 would need replacing at some point down the line. I regret now not buying more memory when I was advised when I bought the PS3 however many years ago but was obviously rather broke after buying the console. :P

And I don't game heavily. I don't buy or get through a lot of games in a year, usually. But this year is just fucking overflowing with games in the DO WANT category. Just Cause II, Red Dead Redemption, Mafia II, War for Cybertron, Agent, Dead Rising II. More will probably also show up as the year goes on, so with all the incoming games over the next few months it really was typically perfect timing for my memory to run as dry as a supercentenarians vagina.
