I ended up downloading ME2 just to screw with a friend of mine who's far more excited about it than I before it came out.

Oh just you wait. There are times when you're only going to go around talking. For like 40 minutes. They've also thrown a bit of Spore in with the planet scanning. I am loving everything. Especially upgrading weapons and getting prototypes, but the beautiful graphic hurts my eyes and I need to take breaks with MW2.

The combat kills it for me. I know I'm in the VAST minority, but sometimes I'd like to play a game without a fucking third person cover system

Too bad the story is good, the shooting mechanic is smooth and solid and the setting/characters are compelling. Such bad things for game to have...

Don't doubt it, and I'll tough it out since I loved the first Mass Effect's story and I love Bioware (I'm in love with Dragon Age and that combat is clunky as shit in comparison), I'd just like someone to do Sci-Fi in a different way. Besides, I said I was in the vast minority, so I'm sorry my opinion doesn't align with the status quo chief.

As far as differentials for how the science-fiction based game is played, honestly as mediocre as Too Human was, it certainly was attempting to try something different with the genre. I'm just tired of people playing it safe all the time in the games industry, and that definitely includes my employer as well.
It's not like I didn't love Mass Effect.I love the galaxy that was created, I mean my favorite thing across all media are well-fleshed out, fully conceptualized worlds/universe. I will use the storyline to push me through the game, but I'm reaching wits end on space based future shooters when it comes to gameplay. In my eyes, the shooter has kinda reached that critical maximum platformers had 15 years ago. It's not like Klonoa wasn't amazing back in the day, but something that brought something more to the table like Tomba is more revered in my memory. If that analogy makes any sense to you...
