I think its more a "fad" in places like America than in Japan. It's an odd combination of japan being inspired by British punk and American rock, and changing it into there own, and then westerners (for lack of a better word ) trying to recopy the adapted copy. I know this isn't always the case however
And Dir En Grey are awesome. Superb live, although for half of it I was like this Nothing like I had seen before. The older generation of Jrock is much better than most of the 'newer' generation. My personal opinion anyway. Anyway, I'll stop being off topic now D:
