Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

Stupid people are everywhere on the internet; not just confined to facebook and myspace and all that. It really bugs me when people go on ranting about "lolol facecrack/mycrack" etc. or calling it stupid or awful (while owning an account themselves) simply because that seems to just be what you're supposed to say. Aside from the fact that replacing the second half of a name with 'crack' is neither logical, clever, nor funny, it's actually quite a useful service. I like Facebook a lot and find it very useful.

I suppose the same thing happens with people judging a band based on its fans (and/or grudgingly admitting they like X band while simultaneously calling them crap to keep up appearances), which I've been taking notice of a lot lately. Actually, I've been seeing a lot of judgment being passed around for the stupidest little things-- or maybe just noticing it now-- it's quite odd. Oh well, slipped a bit off topic there. So yep, to reiterate-- I LIKE FACEBOOK AND ALL THE 'CRAPPY' SITES AND BANDS YOU CLAIM NOT TO. :P

Haha, I know the irony in it. I don't want to own one really. I would quite happily live without it. But I live practically without a mobile phone, and for some weird reason, people want to talk to me some how :P

The only reason I started up a myspace was because I wanted to add bands, and help them out. (like, promotion and such) :D But that kinda went down the crapper, and then people from my old school added me. :P

But yeah, I totally know what your're saying Josiah. I've noticed it too. I usually admit to my guilty pleasures in music though, and sometimes you even see them on my Last.fm :D

Let me tell you that nobody in The Netherlands uses Facebook. Nobody.

Well, maybe 5 people. Or six.

People from school and college. I've moved around a silly amount in my near quarter-century.

I use it to find old friends and such. And also to talk to classmates that aren't really close friends but just people I work with.

To those of you denouncing "social utilities" and whatever else: quit whining. No site is better/worse than another just because it's popular. I mean, I have a facebook, a last.fm, an account on this forum, and AIM! Holy shit! I'm such a fucking loser!

I have one as well -

I don't check it all that often, and tend to avoid it all together, but I do like the iLike application which alerts me to concerts coming to the Bay Area.

I also like the Lil' Green Patch application, I have helllza greenbucks

Other than that, I honestly don't want to know what people I knew once 10 years ago are doing at the moment. And I don't want my life to be that public in that sense - that's what forums are for :D Don't mean to sound hypocritical, I do think there's an upside to FB I just don't use it that much.

And as for party invites and whatnot... am I the only one who really fucking hates getting spammed with invites - or those people who send out multiple messages to everyone they know about how they lost their phone and they need your number again blah blah bllaaaaahhhhhhh ...

I'm on there. It's very handy for keeping in touch/getting back in touch with old friends. Especially now that I live a continent away from most of them and most of my time is for my family.

Oh, oh, I'll play!

MySpace (though I never use it), Facebook, here, Last.fm, Ubuntu Linux forums, Metallica forum, a forum run by some (former) members of the Metallica forum, Nine Inch Nails forum, a Nine Inch Nails fan-run forum (ETS), Meshuggah forums, a computer case modification forum... and a few others I've signed onto, mostly tech-related as I learned how to use certain software applications.

I'm not on all of them every day, some I'm not really active community-wise and most of the tech ones I only visit when I have a problem, but my accounts are active at all of the above listed sites :realscott:
