You are right, but it's all fun ... You would probably find a lot to say or to contest in every threads you go through ...

And to clarify, "I listen to everything" is not an acceptable answer because it is simply not possible. There has to be a common denominator that you can identify with the most. If you disagree, sort your CD/MP3 collection by genre and see what you have the most of.

i agree, i always come off as an jerk when i meet people because i challenge their claim to liking everything. I mean it's not possible humans are dynamic. Our tastes define to some extent channels of our personalities as a whole. Life would be so boring if people didn't formulate their own opinions on things.

As for me closet thing that matched for me was 'metal head'. But by no means does my tastes end there. I tend to like anything that has a really creative edge with a up most precise execution. I've never been one to turn down a challenge either. I love listening to artists that challenge their listeners by means of concept, subtleties, unique production, musicianship, and over all quality. Metal definitely and certainly all of Dev's projects contain such qualities. I tend not to be very subjective about different genre's of music. It all comes back to quality

I'll go with rocker, cause for me there just has to be some sort of guitar in there. (even if it's wired through five pedals, a deconstructed toaster and a bass amp)

I'm probably in metalhead denial. I do like a lot of indie stuff though, which suprises all the weirdos I talk to music about.

Since I listen to punk, britrock and hardrock just as much as I listen to prog, can't say one of the options fits me...

Progger here. By far I have more "Yes" albums in my collection than from any other band. Having said that, I'm more metal now than I ever used to be, but I still have a hard time with the Death/Black stuff. I am classically trained but not overly snobbish. I do try to keep telling myself "just because I think it's shit doesn't mean it's bad music!" I still catch myself thinking my opinion is better than others with my B.Mus and all.
Bad boy!

Definitely not a popper....mmm...jalapeño poppers...

*slaps self back into reality*

I'll say metalhead with a pinch of prog.

Might I add this is a strange poll - Since when did we try to classify ourselves under labels? What are we when we can appreciate more than one type of music - In the end, music is music, it creates various emotions, conveys different concepts, MUSIC IS MUSIC!! And that 'snobby elitist' option - if you listen to classical then is this what you are? Does no one realise that alot of metal is directly influenced by classical?

In the future, you may want to ignore most of my posts. If this got you fired up, I'm sure I will mortally offend you with something.

Also, on the classical note, of course I am aware of that but try telling a classically minded person that metal is Beethoven with blastbeats and see what happens!

I actually got laughed at when I applied for classical guitar in University so that I could master my metal chops. They thought metal was all power chords. So I laughed back and said fuck you snobs I'm outta here! I think it also pissed them off when I passed my practical test and told them that I learned the grade 10 song from tab!

I'm a fine blend of rocker with a subtle hint of metal and a nice proggy aftertaste. Best enjoyed with cheese. 1979 - a very good year.
