lol I see what you did there :D You wouldn't even believe how good those things are. I was tempted to drink the pickle juice after =O

Is there a general consensus on veggie burgers/fake meat products here? xD I'm not a vegetarian, but I enjoy the occasional meatless foods in patty or hotdog form. Last night I had a meatless burger, and I thought it was going to be a gluten burger, or some soy product or whatever, I bit into it and it was just a bunch of vegetable particles mashed up and grilled.
It tasted like burning vegetable, it was pretty gnarly :x Foul.

^ That sucks. Burnt vegetables aren't good.

I am currently enjoying a glass of V8 Fusion Goji Raspberry. So good!

Fake meat products are pretty weird - vegetarian bacon anyone? But burgers or sausages aren't an actual meat in their own right in the first place just a convenient hsape to cook ghround up meat and other stuff in, so veggie burger, Sosmix etc are okay in principle. Some are pretty foul in practice though.
Burger King Spicy Beanburger is pretty okay on the whole.

I think MorningStar makes great meatless products. I've introduced the burger patties to several people and they've always been a hit. Lots of flavor and never dry.

Nice one 8) Every time is a good time for Ziltoid quips

I've never had a Spicy beanburger before - that actually sounds quite delicious, and I'm not even a BK fan. Might have to try that out Billy.

Those are delicious, Blueraja - that's the burger I thought I was getting. But no :( Boca burgers are pretty delicious too, they even have a chicken texture!

My wife is a vegetarian, so I get to eat a lot of non-meat. Generally I find that the 'pretend meat' products you can get are not as good as things which just happen to be made of vegetables. Bean burgers are lovely, but I am not such a big fan of the fakey ones. Some of the Quorn stuff is alright though.

I've always thought if you are a vegee and you eat things that look and taste like meat that you are sort of cheating! What's wrong with vegetables? It's a bit like being a meat lover in denial I suppose. Heh.

Stir fried broccoli...mmmhh...

Boca is pretty good, too. I think Red Robin serves a Boca burger? Haven't been there in awhile.

The Mushroom Lover's Burger is my favorite in the MorningStar line. If you love mushrooms, which I do...yummmm. They are sooo good! Plus, you don't have to flip them over halfway through the cooking time like you do with the others. Just pop them in for 14 minutes or so. Easy.

Mango, I believe there are a couple reasons for the meat patty...impersonators(?): they're a helpful, easier transition for people used to eating meat products, and they give vegetarians the chance to enjoy sirloin and chicken flavors once again. I stopped eating beef and pork several years ago, so I enjoy the taste and well as the texture of the "sirloin" patties.

I had broccoli last night! With lemon. Yay!

I've always thought that meat-eaters who are not prepared to kill or at least butcher and prepare their own meat are sort of cheating (cont.. p.194 The Gospel of Ted Nugent.)

I've never found any part of an animal that looked like a burger. (well some roadkill, perhaps).

Oh man if I didn't hate mushrooms, that would sound pretty good.
Chicken > Mushroom :D

I walked around in Berkeley with a group of friends a few years ago. We ate at a cool little crepes & espresso cafe. Saw lots of women with hairy armpits and the Powerbar company.

Totally agree. Or at least, I find it a bit bizarre that somebody who eats meat could be upset or offended by the killing of animals or shocked at the thought of doing it themselves.

I've skinned many a bunny, me.

Today I have yet to eat anything. Give me some food! e-food? iFood? Thought food!? Food for thought!
