Personally I think it's retarded. Rage are signed to a major label, (the same label as the X-Factor CD I believe), and have pretty much made their name selling pre-packaged rebellion to angsty teenagers. To me it just comes across as "don't buy pre-packaged music product #1, buy prepackaged-music product #2 and feel really mug while Sony records rakes in cash either way"

Fuck you I won't tidy my bedroom. Let's strike a blow against big music labels, by... buying their products. Let's strike a blow against mainstream music, by buying mainstream music that says the word fuck a lot

What a retarded song choice. Why pick something as well known as that to do it? Pick something completely outlandish that fuck all nobody has ever heard of, then it'll be funny. The only thing you'd have to do to make it successful is convince \b\ to join the movement. That never fails...

The point if it isn't to say "Fuck you major lables" it's "Fuck off xfactor, we want proper christmas singles back." :P

Em... No... Morello is a fucking smart lad, Harvard graduate in Political Sciences, he knows his stuff and wants change, don't lump him in there with all the other crappy bands who pretend to give a fuck, I'm not a massive RATM fan, but you've got to give credit where it's due. Angsty teens will engage with the music, but it's also got a better message than most terrible bands who try to catch the angsty teens.

It's a fight back at the X-Factor and it's terribleness. Simple as.

And according to today's midweeks... Still 65k up on Joe.

CD Singles are apparently being terribly distributed. RATM fans within the postal service maybe? :D

That is why it was such a shame that Reuben's UK-single "Christmas is awesome" was disqualified a few years ago due to a registration error. I even bought that one to support it in the charts. Despite being somewhat of a joke, it's still the best Christmas-related song I know.

I have no idea about this x-factor guy's single and whether it's Christmas-themed or not.. if it is, why counter with Killing In The Name? Are you protesting this guy's popularity or the fact Christmas-themed music is popular around *gasp* Christmas? Regardless, I don't get why there's a protest this time. There have been tons of one-hit-wonders generated by such "talent"-show programs, why is this guy so special that he is dignified/acknowledged with this kind of counter-action? I'd say ignore him, just like you did the rest of them.

i think the point is that this guy will be the 5th consecutive xmas single (i'm using xmas rather that christmas to show that this is not a christmas song) by an x factor contestant, so much so that its not even a contest now. they plan the final to give the exactly right amount of time to get the christmas No.1.

another factor is, of course, that simon cowells association in all this is entirely money based. he has had 3(?) non music xmas singles (mr blobby, teletubbies and bob the builder) and he doesn't do it to promote new talent, just to make a quick buck. in fact i think the last xmas single that didn't have his mucky fingers on it was Mad World by Gary Jules.

anyway i don't condone this, it all seems retarded to me, cowell makes more money this year than the last few (not to mention producing the fastest selling debut album of all time this year). people saying,"YEAH we don't want x factor this year!" are just doing it to fit in, belive me i know more than my fair share.

sorry i'm not a great writer.

if its happening next year i vote for Kraftwerk
