My problem with Dan Brown is how he builds the antagonist on a purposely weak argument that's blatantly flawed making it all too easy for the protagonist to point out their weak points and take them down. It's hard to deal with when raised on the complete and utter neutrality of Heinlein.

Dan Brown's books are good with tea, while sitting with your feet up in front of a roaring log fire or a cosy woodburning stove, whilst drinking tea or red wine or just about anything at all or not drinking anything, just tossing the Dan Brown book on the fire and sitting back revelling in its warmth, or if it is midsummer, stoically bearing the increase in temperature whilst just revelling.

Winter is better though, because then you can start on the Robert Anton Wilson books as well.

For those who consider themselves tea connoisseur, is there really a difference between the main brands of tea (lipton, tetley...) that you can find in any supermarket, and some "finer" tea you'd buy in a specialized store ?

Maybe a difference between the usual tea bags, and tea you'd get in a box ? (don't know what to call that)

There's the whole earl grey thing, but now I hate it, I don't want my tea to taste bergamot, I want my tea to taste tea (and milk and sugar, or lemon and sugar, or honey...), and I once tasted real green tea (I mean, Japanese style, no sugar, but not in Japan), I don't know if it was representative or not, but it didn't taste much better than leek cooking juice.

I have the same feeling about coffee, I don't like it without milk and sugar, but is there coffee - and - Coffee ? You can read discussion about people who pay 2000$ for their coffee machine, say how its so much better than the usual one that only delivers not so good coffee...

You have to be a grown up to like coffee without milk or sugar, and green tea. Having the proper stuff is better too, not commercialized crap. Fresh ground beans, organically grown tea (if in bags, unbleached or oxygen bleached, yep, ya can get pretty fussy, I even get fussy on the water used, and I like to energize it).

Don't get me started on Arnotts, (too late), used to be a good company, gets bought out, "oh, we won't change the recipes, they'll stay the same" Fucking bullshit, few months later it tastes crap, and taken over nearly all the other decent competition, or forced them to make cheap nasty crap too to compete. Grrrrrrrr :furious:
Lucky I know how to make my own good biscuits.

I'm a grown up - most of the time. I still like my tea made in a glass pint beer mug with about three quarters tea, one quarter milk and several teaspoons of sugar. Best accompanied by toast and raspberry jam, or cheese. Or Chocolate Digestives. 8)

I've never liked coffee though.

Not a fan of green tea. White tea is kind of flavorless to me. Black tea is probably my favorite. I tried a bottled Earl Grey once and thought it was pretty good, I'd like to try some fresh though cause bottled tea always has so many additives. Definitely want to try some herbals one day too.
