I'm taking this thread out of its eternal rest to talk about Oban Star Racers, a nice anime, result of a rare French-Japanese collaboration.
In 2082, Molly, a teenage girl, escapes her boarding school in hope to get reunited with her father, leader of some kind of pod-racer team. Things don't go that well as he seems to be some sort of asshole (ok, it's not said that way in the official synopsis, but I lack vocabulary) and doesn't even recognizes her, as she fails to explains who she is and pretends she's a mechanic, she embarks with the team for a trip in space, to take part in the race of Oban, a mysterious race that happens every 10000 years.
Well, enough with my lame synopsis that won't help my cause, better take a look at some videos :
The pilot of the serie, then entirely in 3D, while the actual serie is made of traditional 2D animation, and features some nicely integrated 3D for the racing parts :

(yup', they have no nose, surprising at first but you get used to it)
The serie has a nice feel, you get a feel and some codes of japanese animation of course, but not all (no fucking fan service, giant boobs, moe crap or loli shit), it's different. It's sometimes a bit childish, but at the same time works well for adults too, you really get to like the characters, I watched the 26 episodes in a couple of days.
