Yes, but not doing sports for fitness.
dental work

Nonsense. Ever had a dental nerve dying?
hair removal

Nope.
surgery

You must be kidding!?
clipping your nails

Not really.
piercings

Yes, absolutely!
are all forms of disfigurement of the human body.

 I wasn't arguing for for against any of these, but thanks... I think! I mentioned all of these because under many circumstances these are all entirely optional physical alterations that are, by some, considered to be unnecessary, tasteless, or even offensive to their Lord and Saviour. Take surgery, for example:

They're nutcases, but demonstrate that people clearly have different opinions on what you can and can't do to your body.

*rant mode fully on*

OK, now that ... pisses me off. Why the fuck don't they pray to god to give them money? Food? Clothes? Shit, did they figure out they have to work for that? God doesn't give away money and food like that? But surely, with health should be a whole different story, yes, let's just pray for our kid's health. Stupid motherfuckers, that's just retarded, and this kind of people have a voice? More, the right to vote? How about: "No ability of rational thought, no power of decision!" Sounds logical, right? Rational, right? Would it pass? Fuck no. Reason is evil! Reason fights God!

*rant mode barely off*

Sheesh.

Thought that might piss someone off! Sorry 'bout that, but it demonstrates the point pretty clearly, huh? What one man considers insane is another man's religion.

Which does not mean the other man's religion is not insane just because it is his religion. Yes, the example demonstrates the order of things perfectly. But in no way it should be a point of reference. It showcases "the other" end of our issue, what is wrong in the order of things, not how the order of things should be. There should be some damn hierarchy in the order of things, I think.

Money and food are physical things. Health appears to be something from inside. I assume their logic was that God made their child unwell to punish them. Which demonstrates their lack of education, their blind faith and in short, their stupidity. I think Philosophy should be in every school. Half the people in my year couldn't tell me why they believed in God and heaven. New thread..?

It took me the longest time to find something I wanted to have on my skin. I also think a rather childish fear of needles prevented me from getting one any soon than shortly after I turned 32 years old. I have it now and I really like it.

Tats are for who ever wants them I have none but want to get some done on me. How is it empty? Art is good isn't it. Even those who don't want tats eh no big deal. Either way....you are who you are.

For a tattoo such as Acrids: as a piece of art, OK. Not my style but that's a matter of taste. As a tattoo: I still don't like it.
(Practical disadvantage is that you can't look 'decent' without long sleeves).

Same here, don't like the whole idea of almost irreversible and unnecessary body modifications. Thought of permanent modifications made on body, which you possess only in one copy is kinda unconfortable for me. Especially in context of Your Favourite Band or Computer Game tatoos - tastes change, and you can't change your skin like a T-shirt.

There are psychological theories about piercings/tatoos/whatnots as acts of autoagression/self-mutilation, meaning person with lots of piercings and ink has serious issues, but fuck know if they're any true.

But then again, I feel empty inside, so what the fuck do I know.

I guess I must feel empty inside as well....I mean, my tattoos CAN NOT possibly be part of who I am and remind me of where I've been...I MUST have them because I am SO EMPTY inside.
If you don't like ink and don't have any, you shouldn't be allowed to judge/guess why others get inked.
